Description

The Watershed Company has been an on-call environmental consultant to Washington State Parks in Eastern Washington for the past three years, providing wetland assessment at several state parks, as well as permitting for boat launch improvements.

Lake Chelan State Park Boat Launch Permitting

Improvements to an existing boat launch at the popular Lake Chelan State Park required a variety of environmental permits, including a Section 7 Endangered Species Act consultation because of its potential impacts on listed salmonids. Proposed in-water improvements include demolition of an existing concrete boat ramp and reconstruction of a wider ramp, removal and replacement of a single-floating dock, and removal of a failed gabion wall and installation of bioengineered materials. The Watershed Company prepared applications for local, State and Federal permits, which included coordination with Chelan County, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Department of Ecology.

Steamboat Rock Wetland Delineation

Biologists from The Watershed Company delineated wetlands along 10,000 feet of Banks Lake shoreline in preparation for a park facilities upgrade. Watershed Company project managers recommended that, instead of using GPS to record wetland boundaries, an already-scheduled survey could incorporate surveying the wetland boundaries, saving State Parks' money for other work.
