Description
The Watershed Company completed a habitat enhancement plan for a 210-acre former industrial property slated to become an interpretive park and commercial development adjacent to the Snohomish River. While building a public-private partnership for resource recovery, the goal of the project is to restore more natural and productive riverine, estuarine and wetland habitats to benefit fish and wildlife and provide educational opportunities and passive recreation. Biologists conducted a thorough site investigation of critical stream, wetland and river areas to ensure that plans will meet permit requirements as well as fulfill the site's restoration potential. The plan outlines site grading options and revegetation to restore native habitats and suggests sites for installation of habitat features such as standing snags and riverbank habitat logs. Proposed trail locations and links to existing trails are included.
