Peters Creek Restoration
Redmond, Washington

Previously a channelized and invasive-weed-choked urban stream, Peters Creek in Redmond has been completely restored using a design by The Watershed Company. Enhancements include widened floodplain and back channel areas, habitat pools with log structures, gravel supplementation at riffles, 100% native upland and wetland planting, and a new wide concrete box culvert. The $1.1 million comprehensive restoration project done by the City of Redmond improves flood conveyance, sediment storage, fish passage, and habitat conditions for aquatic and terrestrial wildlife. The Watershed Company prepared the required Biological Evaluation for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct Endangered Species Act consultation, permitted the entire project, and oversaw construction. We will continue to conduct performance monitoring of the restoration until 2010.
