North Creek Restoration
Mill Creek, Washington

A restoration plan for 2,500 feet of North Creek adjoining the Mill Creek City Hall was designed by The Watershed Company to stabilize eroding banks and improve fish and wildlife habitat. Work included a number of different bioengineered bank stabilization applications incorporating closely placed logs with attached root wads to provide bank definition, sometimes known as root wad revetments. Our designs included interlocking upright and horizontal logs to add stability and complexity. These structures are expected to form and maintain pools with abundant cover for fish use at the outside of channel bends. Non-native vegetation removal, native vegetation planting, and interpretive features were also included. The Watershed Company obtained State and federal permits and prepared a Biological Evaluation for Endangered Species Act consultation.
