Pacific County Critical Areas Ordinance and Shoreline Master Program Update

Pacific County

Pacific County is at the forefront of shoreline management along Washington’s outer coast, addressing the competing interests of fishing, aquaculture, ocean energy, recreation, and property rights.  The Watershed Company has focused on bridging the gap between State guidelines and local interests, working with a 21-member planning committee, a technical advisory committee, and the Planning Commission, to reach resolution.  This includes the first effort in Washington State to develop updated policies and regulations to manage ocean resources. In conjunction with the County’s SMP update, The Watershed Company team is also updating to the County’s CAO, conducting a series of regional open houses and planning commission workshops.
