Description

The Watershed Company is assisting Chelan County and the five incorporated cities of Cashmere, Chelan, Entiat, Leavenworth and Wenatchee in a major update of its Shoreline Master Program (SMP) so that it is in compliance with new state guidelines under the Shoreline Management Act. Chelan County has more than 130 shoreline water bodies distributed over four watersheds. This multi-phase project includes preparation of a comprehensive Shoreline Characterization and Analysis Report, combined programmatic and project-specific Restoration Plan, cumulative impacts analysis, and an updated SMP. The SMP must balance environmental protection, appropriate shoreline uses and developments, and public access. The Watershed Company staff organizes and participates in numerous public involvement proceedings, including workshops and presentations to an Advisory Committee, City Councils, Planning Commissions, and the Board of County Commissioners. The firm is also supporting SMP updates for Skagit County, San Juan County, and Kitsap County, as well as many cities.
