The Watershed Company’s planning staff completed a shoreline substantial development application for a new sockeye salmon hatchery on the north bank of the Cedar River, just below Landsburg Dam. In addition to preparing the permit applications and organizing assembly of the extensive submittal package, the firm delineated and evaluated on-site wetlands and riparian habitat. Planning staff provided an impact assessment and consulted with in-house landscape architects to prepare the mitigation plan to compensate for impacts to riparian function. Our landscape architects prepared a 100% native and drought-tolerant planting plan for the landscape around the new hatchery complex. Staff maintained regular contact with King County to facilitate timely permit issuance, and no appeals were filed. Construction of the new facilities is expected to be complete in 2010.
