Description

A redesign of the parking lot to incorporate a multilevel parking garage necessitated new landscape planting for the site and mitigation planting to offset stream buffer impacts. The landscape architecture team provided schematic design and construction documents for the landscape, irrigation, and mitigation portions of the project and also provided contractor bid assistance. Planting plans incorporated replacement of invasive species with natives; drought-tolerant plants replaced thirsty ornamentals. Existing grass bioswales were redesigned to be more functional, environmentally friendly, and aesthetically pleasing by altering depth, soil amendment, and planting. A more water efficient irrigation plan was provided by reorganizing zones, changing sprinkler heads and nozzles to reduce overspray, and eliminating watering during rain events through the use of a rain sensor.
