Description

From humble beginnings as an outdated manufacturing plant, a new state-of-the-art parking area was created, complete with rain gardens to manage surface runoff, native and drought tolerant landscaping, four interpretive signs and a water-conserving irrigation system. The project area is bordered by Hall Creek and its riparian and associated wetland buffers. Numerous large mature trees were preserved on the property. The Watershed Company led negotiations with the City and coordinated with the civil engineer to protect and enhance these features while maximizing the use of the property. The end result is a project that maximizes aesthetics by tying together mitigation and site landscaping and using innovative stormwater management to filter pollutants, reduce flooding potential, and provide clean water to Hall Creek. To provide additional public benefit, six interpretive signs were created to highlight and explain the value of the raingardens and bioswales, the restoration of the buffers, and the types of plants.
