Description

The Watershed Company prepared an award-winning Wetland, Stream, and Lakeshore Restoration Plan for the 512-acre Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah as part of park master planning and redevelopment work. The active day-use park is sited at the floodplain of two local streams; much of it is undeveloped and includes meadows, vast wetlands, lakeshore areas, and the salmon-bearing streams. Our staff evaluated the site extensively, then identified, evaluated, and ranked specific prospective project areas for restoration of natural lands including wetlands, streams, shorelines, floodplain areas, and associated buffers. Cost estimates and permit analysis were also provided for funding feasibility. Presentations were made to parks and citizens groups. This plan is to be used in conjunction with other planning efforts underway for the Park. The Washington Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (WASLA) gave The Watershed Company its 2005 Honor Award for the creative and scientifically sound work.
