Sustainability at The Watershed Company
A core mission of The Watershed Company is sustainable enterprise. This means running our business in a sustainable manner and making enhancements that will lessen our operations impact over the long term. We address these issues through waste reduction, transportation alternatives, energy efficiency and work-life balance. Some of our tactics are obvious and some are creative: recycling and reuse of materials, recycled office supplies, a hybrid company car, flexible staff scheduling, drought-tolerant building landscape that provides habitat for our urban wildlife, and a total building lighting retrofit.
Our projects, as well as our practices, are sustainable. We strive to balance ecological needs with human interests. Our landscape architecture department provides LEED and LID development services, and designs primarily with native and drought-tolerant species. Educational outreach, too, is important for encouraging sustainability. We believe that many human goals for growth can be accomplished without destroying the natural world, but that this requires careful planning and study.
